Sunset

The sunset is a symbol of peace, another day was ended and new beggining will come. It is also an expression of hope and very relaxing view.

In photography we also took a picture to express our self and symbolized our personality. One of the very interesting landscape photography is the sunset. Taking photos like sunset required skill in setting the SLR camera. Using the right combination of exposure such as Aperture,ISO and shutter speed will result a good image. Some of the photographers use special gadget such as filter that will be useful specially to avoid distortion of UV rays from the sun.

I took this photo at Sharjah,UAE while the humidity of the place is present. I used my Canon EOS 1000D SLR camera with the lens 55-200 mm with out filter and no photo shop touch up.

ISO 100, Aperture 5.6, shutter speed 1/120, auto focus set up.

Lines and Lighting

This shot was taken at Buhairah Corniche at Sharjah,UAE while exploring my SLR camera. Exploring and praticing photography develop your photographic composition skill.
Lighting and lines are some element and principle to consider to have a impressive shot.
Using your SLR camera, take a shot adjusting your shutterspeed and aperture to satisfy yourself with your subject. If possible play also with ISO for the exposure effect of your define subject.
Good or correct composition is impossible to define precisely. There are no hard and fast rules to follow that ensure good composition in every photograph. Lines and light will be helpful for your photograph to define and to emphasized your subject that capture the interest of people. Remeber that photography is the art of light, and light will be destructive if not use as a helpful thing for your photographs.

ISO

In earlier post we discuss Aperture and Shutterspeed, to take good photo combination of this plus ISO will improved and give you a nice image. What is ISO?

ISO is the sensitive of express the photographic negative materials. Traditionally used the set the film speed of the selected speed on film cameras, ISO speed are employed on the modern digital cameras as an indication of the system gain from light to numerical output and to control automatic exposure system.

ISO speed affects the shutter speed / aperture combinations you can use to obtain correct exposure.

Suppose your digital camera's light meter warns you there is not enough light to correctly expose a scene. You could use the on-board flash, but let's suppose again it's not allowed (like in a concert or indoors recital).

Usually the setting of SLR cameras for ISO is ISO100, ISO200,ISO400,ISO800 etc.(depend on the model of SLR)

Explore your SLR camera using the combination of ISO, aperture and shutterspeed will give you an impressive photo. Practice makes perfect.

Shutter Speed

One thing to consider when taking a good shot with your SLR camera is the Shutter speed. Shutter speed is the adjustment of the speed (often expressed in fraction of a seconds) of the shutter to control the amount of time during which imaging medium is exposed to light for each exposure.Shutterspeed may be used to control the amount of light striking the image plane; faster shutter speeds (that is,those of shorter duration) decrease both amount of light and the amount of image blurring from subject motion or camera motion.

The agreed standards for shutter speeds are:

1/500 s
1/250 s
1/125 s
1/60 s
1/30 s
1/15 s
1/8 s
1/4 s
1/2 s
1 s

Try to take some practice using different setting of shutter speed to fully understand. practice make everything perfect.
